Make Way for Ducklings
If you are looking to find a creative baby shower gift, any hardcover, sturdy children’s book such as Make Way for Ducklings, is sure to be a hit with the parents. I just had a baby shower the first week in April, and I received Make Way for Ducklings from an aunt who is a first grade teacher.
As part of our baby shower registry, I added a message to all of our baby shower guests that I’d be thrilled with any books that were either their favorite from childhood or a book they thought would make a great addition to my new daughter’s library of children’s books.
Make Way for Ducklings, written and illustrated by Robert McCloskey, was first written in 1941 and won the 1942 Caldecott Medal for the beautiful illustrations. Make Way for Ducklings is the official children’s book of Massachusetts, making this children’s classic a perfect gift for my daughter.
The book is set in Boston, Massachusetts and in the Public Gardens there is a statue of the mother duck and her eight ducklings which has become a very popular tourist attraction for ducks and children.
It is hard to find a fun baby shower gift. Consider books as a thoughtful, educational option when you are searching for just the right baby shower gift.

I received several book sets when my daughters were born. It’s a great gift that I never even thought of. I like to let them take turns each night picking which book we’ll read at bed time and it’s great to have a nice collection.
